Every January, it’s the same story, the same pressure to make this year “my year.” And don’t get me wrong, I love having goals to work toward. But sometimes I get lost in the idea of performing and success instead of focusing on progress and the journey God has created for me.
So what does that mean for me? I’m still going into 2026 with something to work toward, but instead of carrying pressure into the new year, I’m choosing to move forward with intention.
Intentions allow growth to be slow, nonlinear, and deeply personal. Resolutions, on the other hand, often leave little room for humanity. One misstep can make everything feel like it has fallen apart. And if I am being honest, I unraveled enough in 2025. I do not need to repeat that cycle.
So this year, these are the ten intentions I am carrying into 2026:
- I intend to live at a pace that supports my mental and emotional health, not competes with it.
- I intend to care for myself without guilt, trusting that rest is necessary, not earned.
- I intend to keep God at the center of my life, even when it’s hard.
- I intend to care for my body and listen to what it tells me.
- I intend to recognize my inner thoughts and choose compassion over criticism.
- I intend to build confidence in cooking by learning, practicing, and letting go of perfection.
- I intend to steward my finances wisely, making choices that support peace and stability.
- I intend to grow my confidence by showing up imperfectly and not comparing myself to others.
- I intend to grow in my work through curiosity, research, and consistent effort.
- I intend to continue growing in my faith, leaning into God’s Word daily, even when it feels quiet or difficult.
My challenge to all of you this year is to ask yourself how you want to live, not just what you want to accomplish. You are deeply loved, fully known, and already enough. Your worth is not found in what you achieve, how consistent you are, or how well you hold it all together. Whatever this year looks like for you, be kind to yourself, this is your first time living.
With Love,
B
